Distinguished colleagues, respected members, and friends from the global architectural community,
It is a profound honor to serve as the President of the Korean Institute of Female Architects (KIFA).

Since its establishment in 1982, KIFA has flourished for over four decades, built upon the dedication, vision, and perseverance of generations of women architects. Guided by a spirit of solidarity that respects diversity and encourages mutual support, our Institute has evolved into a meaningful platform where professional excellence, creativity, and social responsibility converge. I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to everyone who has contributed to this remarkable legacy.

Today, we stand at a critical crossroads. Rapid advances in artificial intelligence, demographic shifts—such as declining birth rates and aging societies—widening economic disparities, the disappearance of regional communities, and the accelerating climate crisis are reshaping the fundamental conditions of human life.

In this era of transition, architecture must move beyond its traditional role of simply serving industries. It must emerge as a thoughtful and responsible public practice—one that reflects on the direction of society, anticipates future challenges, and shapes environments that sustain human dignity and collective well-being.

Within this evolving landscape, the perspectives of women architects hold particular significance. Shaped by diverse life experiences and a unique capacity for observation, integration, and empathy, women architects bring invaluable insights to the task of designing inclusive and resilient environments.

With this conviction, the Korean Institute of Female Architects moves forward with a clear vision: “Designing the future together through proactive solidarity and public engagement.”

To translate this vision into action, we will focus on four strategic directions:

Building a vibrant and inclusive platform for participation:
Cultivating an open professional community where members can actively engage, collaborate, and grow together.
Expanding architecture’s role as a public practice:
trengthening our contribution to the public good through partnerships with local governments, public institutions, corporations, and civil society.
Highlighting professional excellence and leadership:
Actively promoting women-led architectural practices and encouraging leadership across all sectors of the built environment.
Strengthening global dialogue and collaboration:
Building sustainable networks with women architects worldwide to contribute to the global conversation on architecture and society.

The future of KIFA will not be shaped by a single voice, but by the collective wisdom of our members and partners. Together, we will continue to build bridges—between generations, between cultures, and between architecture and society.

We aspire not only to advance our profession but to contribute to a world where architecture supports human dignity, nurtures communities, and sustains the shared future of our planet.
